Types of Diamonds

All diamonds sold by Shay’s Diamonds are 100% real natural diamonds. All our diamonds are conflict free. We do not sell ‘blood diamonds’ or any type of imitation or fake diamonds such as Moissanite, simulated, cubic zirconia, lab created or manmade.

We offer a wide variety of quality diamonds to meet anyone’s budget or preference such as:

GIA: Gemological Institute of America® (GIA) is a well known grading company that performs diamond certification and grading. Diamonds that have been graded by this company will come with a GIA certificate. GIA also has a training program that allows licensed graduate gemologists all over the world the ability to grade diamonds and provide certificates under the GIA grading standards. Some diamonds will come with grading certificates from other companies that will use a graduate GIA gemologist to perform the grading.

EGL: European Gemological Laboratory USA® (EGL) is also a well known grading company that performs diamond certification and grading. Diamonds that have been graded by this company will come with an EGL certificate.

Clarity enhanced: One of the most popular types of diamonds we sell are clarity enhanced diamonds. Our customers love our clarity enhanced diamonds because of their breathtaking beauty and exceptional brilliance. They also provide you with incredible savings and maximum value. Clarity enhanced diamonds are real natural diamonds. They are completely genuine and authentic just like any other real diamond that you would purchase at any local jewelry store. The reason they are called ‘clarity enhanced’ is simply because the natural diamond underwent a process that will maximize its fire, beauty and brilliance. The diamond still remains a real natural diamond! All diamond testing machines and devices will validate and confirm that they are real natural diamonds. Colored diamonds: When most people think of diamonds, they usually think of white or colorless as this is what most people desire. However, natural diamonds can also come in several other colors. Many natural colored diamonds such as blue and pink, can be very rare and extremely expensive. Due to the high cost of these colored diamonds, various color treatment processes were created so that you can purchase a colored diamond at a much lower cost. Certified and Uncertified: Aside from GIA and EGL, there are many other reputable companies and labs that also perform professional and dependable diamond grading and certification. Some companies that offer diamond certification will actually use a GIA graduate gemologist to perform their grading. Certificates generally come in two forms:

1) Certificate of Authenticity
2) Appraisal Certificate

A “Certificate of Authenticity” will validate that the diamonds on the ring are real diamonds and it will also give you all the grading details about each diamond on the ring (such as size, clarity, color, cut, etc.). An “Appraisal Certificate” will offer the same information as a “Certificate of Authenticity”, but it will also provide an estimated full retail value for the ring (for more information on Appraised Values, please click the link).

Some diamonds are not certified as they do not come with a certificate. Uncertified diamonds are just as beautiful as diamonds that have been certified – they just haven’t been through the grading process so they don’t have a certificate. If you purchase an uncertified diamond, you can still have a company perform a grading certification or appraisal at any time you desire. One of the advantages to purchasing an uncertified diamonds is that you will usually pay less money than you would for diamonds that have been through the certification process.

Shay’s Diamonds offers both certified and uncertified diamonds. Many of the rings we offer have already been certified and will come with a certificate. Any uncertified diamond ring that we offer can be graded, certified or appraised at your request for a nominal fee. For the benefit and comfort of our customers, our policy at Shay’s Diamonds is to never perform the grading and certification on the rings we sell as we feel it would be a conflict of interest. We always use a reputable and independent third-party grading company to perform the certifications on our rings. Listed below are a few certificate examples:
